Rey is described from Disney Studios as a female scavenger. During the first teaser trailer released on November 28, 2014 she was seen fleeing something on a speeder while on the desert planet Jakku. Note that Disney has been very careful not to reveal her last name, leading to wide spread speculation as to her lineage and role in the new trilogy. Here at Cosplay Savvy we prescribe to the theory that during the second trailer video released by Disney, when Luke says the lines “The Force is strong in my family. My father has it. I have it. My sister has it.…You have that power too.” we think he is speaking to Rey. Our theory is that she is the daughter of Leia and Han Solo, making her Rey Solo and a force sensitive character. We are hoping that Luke delivers these lines when he agrees to teach her the ways of the Jedi, but again this is all speculation. After all, why would the daughter of a War hero and a Princess be a scavenger? During the same trailer, Rey can be seen extending her hand to Finn, the other main character shown in the released footage. So even though we do not know either of these characters origins or lineage, we can expect them to have a lot of screen time, thus making a Rey Costume an iconic cosplay to this generation of Star Wars fans.
