Red Arrow, real name Roy Harper first appeared in the comic titled More Fun Comics number 73, published in 1941. He is the sidekick of a main DC hero Green Arrow, and has been known as his nickname Speedy for over 50 years. This character has been made recently popular by the TV show Arrow, and is seen as a red clad archer who is the hero of the fictional Star City. He works with Oliver Queen he is a billionaire businessmen and owner of Queen Industries. Part of the Young Justice League, this hero earned his place in many subsequent DC animated movies and games. He carries many of the same tools as the Green Arrow including a variety of special tipped arrows, including glue, explosive-tipped, grappling hook, flash grenade, tear gas and even kryptonite arrows. Commonly associated with the visage of Robin Hood, cosplay variants of this character are becoming more and more popular in recent years. With an increased fan base of DC characters spurred by shows like Arrow and Gotham, combined with the still recent DC fighting game, Injustice, this smart-mouthed red-head has become part of popular nerd culture. Premiering in 2012, the highly rated CW show Arrow, is currently in its third season and is still drawing fans of all ages.
