By far the most responsible and competent member of the cast she has an on and off love affair with the goofy main character. Much to the chargrin of Fry she is also the object of infatuation for recurring character, Zapp Brannigan. Empowering and witty she claims the screen in any episode about her origin story or her strange ability to attract alien affection. Ensuring that the Delivery Company makes any deliveries and thus sustain the experiments of the owner, Professor Hubert J. Farnsworth, Leela keeps the roudy cast of Futurama in line. Full name Turanga Leela, inspired by the Turangalîla-Symphonie her creator Olivier Messiaen, she is voiced by Katey Sagal. The plot reveals her complex past as a Cyclops orphan who was bullied relentlessly, finding her only home among the members of the Planet Express. The initial character that Fry meets during the pilot episode of Futurama, she is the one to chase Fry down and convince him that the life-long occupation coding procedure that is in place in the future, is not only logical but necessary. Needless to say the show would not be what it is without her and her signature Leela Costume.
