Kanan Jarrus is the leader of the Ghost crew in the hit animated show Star Wars Rebels. It is revealed that he was a Jedi Padawan that survived Order 66 by escaping after his master sacrificed herself to save him. He quickly meets Ezra Bridger on the planet of Lothal and takes the orphan under his wing as part of the Ghost crew. After finding that Ezra is force sensitive, Kanan agrees to take him as as a padawan learner. Together as Padawan and Master they draw the attention of the Inquisitor, a sith-like imperial killer whose sole mission is the eradication of the Jedi order. While little else is currently known about the origin of Kanan, he has been described by animation supervisor Keith Kellogg as “He is a Jedi but he’s not a Jedi in the traditional sense that we’ve had before on the show. He’s a little more rough around the edges. He’s kept his lightsaber locked away, so he hasn’t used it in a long time.” Kanan is further described as a cowboy Jedi, which adding the voice acting performance of Freddy Prince Jr. gives fans fond memories of a Firefly like saga, just slightly more kid-friendly.
