The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers began as a TV franchise first released on August 28, 1993. The premise consisted of several American teens who were chosen by an alien being known as Zordon to battle the forces of alien invaders on earth. To do this they were given the power to “morph” into warriors with super powers, each unique to the chosen teen. They were most notably given alien technology that could materialize after a series of power up moves that could combine into a complete “megazord” or giant fighting robot. The original group of teems consisted of Jason Lee Scott, Kimberly Hart, Zack Taylor, Trini Kwan and Billy Cranston. As the show progressed, perhaps the most popular member, Tommy Oliver is introduced and joins the Power Ranger forces. With commercial success occurring over-night this show became a staple of 1990’s media and remains popular to this day.
