Elektra Natchios is a skilled kunoichi, or highly trained female ninja assassin assassin and main love interest in Marvel’s Daredevil comics. Matt Murdock or more commonly known by his super-hero secret identity, Daredevil is known as “the man without fear.” Created by part of the dynamic duo, Stan Lee and artist Bill Everett, it has been revealed that there was an “unspecified” amount of input from Jack Kirby. This character has inspired generations since his first appearance in April 1964. Since the release of Daredevil number one, this savior of Hell’s Kitchen, a crime riddled neighborhood in New York City, has been a fan favorite due to his inclusion of a blind character in the Marvel Universe. While several artists worked on the title, Daredevil was largely a small character until the work of Frank Miller put him on the map in Marvel Titles. Of greek descent she was introduced in January 1981 and is one of the few characters created by Frank Miller. Wielding a pair of bladed sai as her trademark weapon, she is renowned as one of Miller’s “best-loved creations.” He reportedly based her character design off of the then famous female bodybuilder Lisa Lyon.
Live-action adaptations have been made for the Elektra character, portrayed by Jennifer Garner in the 2003 Daredevil movie and in her own spin-off movie in 2005 simply titled, Elektra. More recently Netflix has produced their own TV series of the child Matt Murdock played by Charlie Cox, detailing his journey to become the red masked devil himself. Fans hope that she will soon appear in this new series.
As a character she was ranked number 22 in Comics Buyer’s Guide’s 100 Sexiest Women in Comics list.
