First introduced in 1989 as a henchmen of Red Skull, Crossbones is the notorious assassin and adversary of Captain America. Brock Rumlow, his true identity, started out as the leader of the Savage Crims gang in New York. He was eventually taken under Taskmaster’s wing and joined his school for criminals where he would end up teaching under the name Bingo Brock. Once Rumlow finished there he assumed the identity Crossbones and became a mercenary for hire. He then became Red Skull’s personal hired gun and battled Captain America who easily defeated him. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Crossbones is portrayed by Frank Girllo in the film Captain America: Civil War which is based off of the Marvel Civil War story arc. In the comic he is the one who tries to assassinate Captain America under the orders of Red Skull. The following is a list of prominent features of the Crossbones costume.
Creating your own Crossbones Costume will be dominated by black tactical gear with a bit of clever white spray paint. Primary cosplay items include his iconic black and white skull mask and white spray painted chest armor. As you can see in the cover image, you can either focus on the comic book version of Crossbones or the upcoming live-action adaptation in Marvel’s Civil War movie. Secondary costume items include off-black cargo pants, a black thigh gun holsters, and an assortment of guns and military gear.
