Nintendo, is the largest video game company by revenue and is unarguably a staple of all of our collected childhoods. Bringing us characters like Mario and his brother Luigi, the Mario World adventures have worked a mushroom shaped space in all of our hearts. That space has been filled with epic adventures in several consoles since Nintendo’s creation of video games in the 1970’s. As a company it has actually been around for a record 125 years, founded in September 1889 by Fusajiro Yamauchi. Originally producing a series of playing cards, this is a perfect example of a fundamental game company that evolved with the times. Translated from its native language of Japanese, Nintendo means “leave luck to heaven.” As they certainly did, as a company they have sold over 670.43 million hardware units and 4.23 billion software units in their time in the gaming industry. With the recent passing of CEO and President Satoru Iwata, in his wake memories of all of the games he loved are honoring his passing. Thus, cosplays of nintendo characters are becoming more and more frequent.
