Batman Costume: The Story

Batman! Creating your own Batman Costume will be one of the most iconic choices you can make. There is literally not enough words in the english language that we can use to convey how much we love the DC character Batman here at Cosplay Savvy. A personal favorite of this writer (hello world!) and one of the most iconic comic heroes of all time, the character Batman is what comes to mind when thinking of famous masked heroes. He is the caped crusader, he is the night, the is the hero that Gotham deserves, overall he is Batman.

Brilliantly created by comic legend Bob Kane and Bill Finger, he first appeared in the comic series simply titled Detective Comics number 27, published in May 1939. One of the oldest comic characters ever created, Batman has been a fan favorite hero for the better part of a century. As we alluded to earlier, during his time in the DC universe he has also been known by various other titles.

Batman Costume: Origins

First he was known as Bat-Man very early on in his creation. Followed by the title of the Caped Crusader, which remains a popular nickname. Drawing back to his roots as a character, he is known as the World’s Greatest Detective, although much argued against by the Riddler. Made most famous by the cinematic genius that is Christopher Nolan, he has been known as the Dark Knight. With the real identity of Bruce Wayne, millionaire, playboy, philanthropist and sole heir to Wayne enterprises, he is the protector of his beloved city of Gotham.

With the all-encompassing brilliance that is the Batman character, so too are the villains created to oppose him. As a character, he has arguably the most popular villain ensemble of any comic series ever made, Batman’s adversaries include his arch nemesis the Joker, Harley Quinn, the Riddler, Two-Face, Penguin, Poison Ivy, and many, many more. As a character, Batman has been portrayed by many famous actors including Lewis Wilson, Robert Lowery, Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale, and soon by Ben Affleck.
