Zatanna first appeared in the Hawkman subset of DC Comics in 1964. The daughter of Giovanni “John” Zatara, that makes her full name Zatanna Zatara (quite a mouthful). Debuting as a stage magician, her actual magical powers (inherited from her father) landed her a place in the Justice League. Zatanna discovers her powers when investigating the disappearance of her father. Throughout her career with the Justice League she has worked with Hawkman, Hawkgirl, Batman, Robin, Atom, Green Lantern, Superman and Supergirl. With the power to “wipe minds” and erase peoples memories she is an asset to the Justice League. This also makes her a target and rarely trusted as she obeys the will of the council as wipes the memories of iconic characters like Batman and Catwoman.
Her iconic magicians outfit makes her an easily recognizable character is any convention.
