Xena, better known as Xena The Warrior Princess is the armor clad, butt-kicking heroine and main character of the smash hit 1990’s TV series, Xena: Warrior Princess. As a character, she first appeared on the 1995-1999 Hercules TV series, before gaining enough popularity for her own spin off series. Portrayed by actress Lucy Lawless, her New Zealand heritage gave her an exotic look that made the character more authentic. Setting the bar for empowering female roles in television, Lawless was known for her muscle, bravado and going against the damsel in distress stereotype. She appeared in the spin off movie, The Battle for Mount Olympus and multiple books and video games.
