Rachel Roth more commonly known as Raven is the telepathic sorceress member of the Teen Titans. She is the human-demon hybrid daughter of her evil father/interdimensional demon Trigon and her Azarathian human mother Arella. She was raised by Azar, the pacifist leader of the dimension Azarath and contacted the Justice League when her father Trigon threatened to invade her home dimension. The Justice League refused to help but Raven did garner the support of a few sidekicks and heroes. Mainly Robin, Starfire, Cyborg, Beast Boy, Kid Flash, and Wonder Girl.
During her stay with the Teen Titans she helps defend Earth and on occasion is confronted with her father Trigon to tempt Raven to give in to his demonic influence. Part of the appeal of Raven is she personifies the constant internal conflict of balancing good vs evil. We see a Raven purged of evil becoming White Raven and we see times where Raven gives in and uses her more Demonic powers and falls for evil.
In addition to her inner battle she has an incredible array of powers and abilities at her disposal. Her major powers include an extremely powerful demonic transformation, telekinesis, telepathy, teleportation, astral projection, clairvoyance, sorcery and flight. These host of powers makes her a formidable fighter and a valuable asset to the Teen Titans which she considers family.
Cosplaying as Raven is both easy and fun since her Raven costume is simple yet iconic within the DC universe. Whether it’s her Injustice: Gods Among Us outfit or her Teen Titans attire from the animated show there’s always a few common elements in her Raven costume: dark hooded cape, long sleeve leotard, thigh high boots, jewel belt and jewel piece on her forehead. Don’t forget that this would be a great couple’s cosplay if you include Beast Boy!
