The Matrix is one of the most successful American action science fiction films in production history. Credited with being one of the most iconic post-apocalyptic dystopian films, this 1999 hit cemented The Wachowski brothers as masters in the art of production story telling. The first film in the franchise is by far the most successful, so that is what we will focus on in this guide. Living in what he thought was the real world, Neo is approached by another renowned hacker in the cyber-crime underworld known by the alias Trinity, played by the lovely Carrie-Anne Moss. She tells him a fanciful tale of apocalypse type events that occurred without anyone knowing it. After their meeting he is introduced to Mr. Smith, an agent of the Matrix, a computer generated persona that is meant to keep the human psyche in line and complacent. Here is where the science fiction comes in, Neo meets the prophet-like Morpheus portrayed by Laurence Fishburne and is told what the Matrix really is. It is a network of machines that harvest humans as their energy supply in a very Terminator-esque type reality where human rebels are hunted down and exterminated by complex machines. The reality that Neo knew and lived in was a lie created by computers to keep the humans alive and their minds healthy so that they could be harvested. Neo is told that he is “The One” a prophesied human warrior who is destined to destroy the Matrix and save what is left of man-kind. Morpheus is told by the Oracle, a powerful seer, that he is destined to find “The One” leading him to realize that Neo is truly the hero they have been searching for. Thus the Matrix franchise was born and remains a cult-classic to this day.
Creating your own Morpheus Costume will be straight-forward. You have a few options, whether you want to go for his more iconic look as a looming figure when first giving Neo the options of either the red or blue pills, or his real-world Zion look. Primary costume items include his black long leather trench coat and purple vest, green pattern tie and choice of purple or black dress pants. Secondary costume items include his iconic black reflective sunglasses, and classy black dress shoes.
