Mikasa Ackerman is a childhood friend of the main character Eren Jaegar on the popular anime show Attack on Titan. Becoming a quick hit at conventions across the country Attack on Titan cosplays have become easily recognizable for any age or gender. Her backstory is a tragic one as she was orphaned at a young age. Eren drew her out of her mourning and gave her the will to fight back against the slave traders that killed her parents. After Eren’s mother is killed and eaten by the giant Titan human-like creatures that reside outside the protective walls of their city, she joins him in enrolling in the military. Graduating at the top of her cadet class in the Survey Corps, she joins the fight against the Titan onslaught. Viewed as a child prodigy with a strategic intelligence that is worth over 100 men, the author of the series noted that he gained inspiration for her character and fundamentally her name from the Imperial Japanese Navy battleship, the Mikasa. She follows Eren throughout his battles, making a Mikasa Ackerman Costume cosplay just as recognizable as the main character of the series.
