Man-Bat, real name Kirk Langstrom is a character introduced in the DC universe. He was created by Frank Robbins and Neal Adams and was featured in Detective Comics number 400 published in June 1970. Often depicted as a villain, his origin causes him to serve more primal urges, making him a sometimes antagonist, sometimes protagonist. On par with the Batman universe, Dr. Kirt Langstrom was a Gotham resident and brilliant research scientist. Specializing in chiropterology, or the study of bats, he sought to discover a way to give humans a sense similar to that of sonar to counteract his own progressing deafness. Using himself as a test subject his serum works, with massive side effects. Mutating his anatomy to become a man-sized bat monster, he looses all of his intelligence and goes on a rampage throughout Gotham. These effects are reversed after he is tracked and subdued by Batman, although Dr. Langstrom still continued his research in the shadow of the Dark Knight’s gaze.
Man-Bat is arguably one of the coolest creature creations in the Batman Universe. With literally the head and face of a bat, this human-hybrid mad scientist will be a little difficult to cosplay as, but more than worth the time and effort. Primary costume items include the man-bat mask, creature clawed gloves, and creature feet. The torso and wings of the creature is a little more complex. For the torso, we have provided a vampire bat bodysuit, and for a different look a bloody warewolf bodysuit and a brown-tone gorilla bodysuit. These are provided for the torso and limbs of the creature only, so the head does not matter if you choose the wolf or the ape. For the wings we have provided base fabric wings that you can adhere the wooden dowels provided for the tapered areas in the bat anatomy. The brown tone paint provided can be used to make the wings look as real as possible.
