M. Bison is the main enemy in Capcom’s popular video game franchise, Street Fighter. He interacts, is the motivation for or makes enemies/allies of every fighter in the Street Fighter lore. He was introduced with the rest of the notable cast in the second street fighter game, released in 1991. In this he is a dictator and evil incarnate, acting as the game’s final boss. As a character he is present in Street Fighter II, Street Fighter Alpha series, and as a supporting villain in the Street Fighter IV series of games. M. Bison acts as the final boss again in the the non-canon Street Fighter EX series. His interaction with the main character of the franchise Ryu begins in his first game appearance. With a sole goal in the games to improve his fighting skills and become the strongest fighter, Ryu gains attention from many of the other fighters within the Capcom Universe. Namely the crime boss M. Bison, who seeks to use Ryu’s talents for his own illegal agenda. Bison controls another popular character Cammy, when she is introduced into the series. Codenamed Killer Bee, she was the second female playable character to be introduced. Throughout the game development you find that she was a “doll” for the crime lord M. Bison. A deadly assassin that would do Bison’s bidding, she lost her memory and joined the British as an M16 operative and fighter for her new government. Finally he provides the ultimate motivation of revenge for the most popular character, Chun-Li after murdering her father. Adding to the characters mystery, Capcom never reveals what the “M” stands for in his name, some speculate it might be for Master, as he is often titled Master Bison by his underlings.
