“I’m ready for ya, bring it on!” — Ken, Street Fighter IV
“See? The stronger fighter always wins! It’s as easy to understand as a flowchart!” — Ken, Super Street Fighter IV
Ken Masters is the second main protagonist and playable character character in Capcom’s popular game series Street Fighter. He was introduced with the rest of the original cast in the first street fighter game, released in 1987. He gained popularity with his best friend and fellow fighter Ryu for his Americanized martial arts look and dress. Like Ryu, his sole goal in the games to improve his fighting skills and become the strongest fighter. Training under the same master together, Ken and Ryu are known as the best fighters in the Street Fighter games, making each iconic to the series. Partnered with his best friend and often rival, Ken is present in several installments of the Street Fighter game series, film adaptations and anime and comic book publications. Created originally as a re-skinned version of Ryu, Ken is now known independently as a popular character and cosplay choice. Known for its iconic blocky animation coupled with think leg and arm muscles in every playable character, this game series has been a fan favorite for over 20 years.
His outfit is also an iconic party of the game series, and very simple. Cosplaying as Ken will be easily recognizable at a variety of conventions by diverse groups of fans.
