John Connor is the main plot character in the famous Terminator movie franchise. Played by several well known actors including Edward Furlong, Nick Stahl, Thomas Dekker, Christian Bale, and finally Jason Clarke. The leader of the human resistance movement in the future where most of humanity has been wiped out by a nuclear holocaust, his life is constantly in danger in any time line. The self-aware computer artificial intelligence named Skynet has made multiple attempts on his life, many of which involved time travel. First in The Terminator circa 1984, a T-800 played by the one and only former govenator Arnold Schwarzenegger is sent back in time to kill Sarah Connor before John is even conceived (ironically leading to his conception). Then in Terminator 2: Judgment Day circa 1991, a T-1000 is sent to kill 10 year old John Connor, opposed by a reprogrammed T-800 bodyguard. Continuing the original trilogy ends with Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines circa 2003, where an adult John Connor and his love interest are pursued by a T-X generation. The story was continued in Terminator Salvation circa 2009, set after the nuclear destruction of the human race, and introduces a new breed of terminator in the human-cyborg hybrid Marcus Wright, who is initially unaware of his cybernetic enhancements. The saga is set to continue with the reveal of the new movie Terminator Genisys that has not come out yet, with the new generation of T-3000 Terminator.
