Arguably one of the most recognizable Marvel comic book villains, Venom has long been a fan favorite enemy to the notorious Spider-man. One of Stan Lee’s greatest creations, the story of student turned superhero Peter Parker is one that even the most casual superhero fan is familiar with. The Spider-Man costume, and thus his greatest enemy, the Green Goblin is instantly recognizable.
The year was 1962 when the orphaned Peter Parker being raised by his Aunt May and Uncle Ben is then bitten by a radioactive spider at a science exhibit. Peter Parker soon develops strength and agility proportionate to that of a spider. He also develops the ability to crawl on walls and his most iconic superpower his “spidey sense” allows him to sense imminent danger and allow him to react accordingly. Peter Parker, already having an affinity for science, develops wrist-mounted web-shooters that allow him to fire a spider-silk-like material that he uses to swing through the New York skyline and to subdue enemies. At first Peter Parker uses his abilities for money and fame, but during a robbery his indifference to capture the criminal would cost him as the crook later fatally shoots Peter’s Uncle Ben. Losing his father figure and remembering his words “With great power comes great responsibility” Peter decides to use his powers to fight crime. With this moralistic turn of events, to every superhero, villains are also born. The Green Goblin character has been recently made famous by the live-action adaptations of the incredible Willen Dafoe in Spider-Man 3 and Dane DeHaan in the Amazing Spider Man 2.
