Darth Malak is a Sith Lord and initial ally to Darth Revan in the Knights of the Old Republic game series and in the Star Wars expanded universe. Originally named Alek, he is a human male he was born on the outer rim planet of Quelii. After his people were invaded by Mandalorians he journeyed to the Galactic republic seeking help. Recognizing that he was force sensitive he was trained in the Jedi Order where he met and befriended fellow Jedi Knight Revan. Becoming a headstrong general in the Mandalorian Wars, Malak accompanied Revan in scouting missions to the outer rim searching for rogue Mandalorians and secretly the Sith home world. He changed his mane to Malak to avoid suspicion after the Council sent out arrest warrants for the rogue group of Jedi. Together Revan and Malak defeated the Mandalorians on the planet of Malachor V, thus ending the war. Finding the Sith Emperer, both Revan and Malak became Sith Lords during the ensuing Jedi Civil War. After discovering the Star Forge, a weapon of great power Revan and Malak created their own Sith Empire seeking to take control of the galaxy for themselves. Revan took up the title of Sith Lord, making Malak his dark apprentice. During the Jedi Civil War Revan severed Malak’s lower jaw with a lightsaber strike, leading Malak down a road of revenge. Malak turned on his master destroying Revan’s space ship and believing to have killed the Sith lord, Malak usurped the empire for himself. Revan, gravely injured but not dead, had his memories erased by the Jedi council and became a Jedi Knight once again. Confronting Malak in battle, Revan killed the Dark Lord, thus ending his reign and granting victory to the Republic in the Jedi Civil War.
