Arguably one of the most recognizable Marvel comic book heroes in the world, Spider-Man has long been a fan favorite. One of Stan Lee’s greatest creations, the story of student turned superhero Peter Parker is one that even the most casual superhero fan is familiar with. The Spider-Man costume is instantly recognizable. With such a popular hero, comes infamous villains. The year was 1962 when the orphaned Peter Parker being raised by his Aunt May and Uncle Ben is then bitten by a radioactive spider at a science exhibit. Peter Parker soon develops strength and agility proportionate to that of a spider. He also develops the ability to crawl on walls and his most iconic superpower his “spidey sense” allows him to sense imminent danger and allow him to react accordingly. At first Peter Parker uses his abilities for money and fame, but during a robbery his indifference to capture the criminal would cost him as the crook later fatally shoots Peter’s Uncle Ben. Losing his father figure and remembering his words “With great power comes great responsibility” Peter decides to use his powers to fight crime.

The character Carnage first appeared as a man named Cletus Kasady in the comic series The Amazing Spider-Man number 344, and as the visage Carnage in number 360, both published in 1991. As a character he was created by David Michelinie, Erik Larsen and Mark Bagley. Inspiration for the character drew heavily from the previously established villain Venom, but as a more twisted, sadistic persona. Carnage was ranked by IGN as number 90 in the 2009 list of the Greatest Villain of All Time.
