Advanced Recon Force troopers, or more commonly known just as ARF troopers, were Clone Troopers trained to execute short-range reconnaissance for their clone commanders and Jedi Generals. While similar sounding too the well known ARC troopers, ARF troopers were a specialized group of covert recon and force troopers. Also highly specialized and extensively trained, ARF Troopers were sent on information gathering missions and to carry out surprise attacks. Similar in armor and duty to Scout Troopers, ARF Troopers were tasked with combat missions as well as stealth missions. To this end their weapons included the DC-15A blaster rifles, DC-15Ss, chainguns, and missile launchers with thermal detonators. Before the inception of AT-RT drivers, ARF troopers would fill this role.
The Clone Army as created by the by scientists on the planet Kamino, aided the Jedi forces against the Separatists during what was known as the Clone Wars. Ultimately run by the Galactic Senate under the leadership of Chancellor Palpatine, the Clones would find that their very existence was part of a much greater plan of galactic oppression and control. When Finding that the Clones were commissioned by Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas, Obi-Wan sets out to find the truth behind the creation of an army exactly when the Jedi needed them most. Finding that the commission process for the clones was secretly handled by Sith Lord Darth Tyranus, or more commonly known as Count Duku, after he killed Sifo-Dyas, the web of lies and deceit make themselves known as the true reason for the Clone Wars become less and less apparent. Describing their utility after finding out about their existence, Yoda had this to say “A weapon they are. Obey orders without question for good or ill. For now they fight for us. Who is to say what the future holds?” This foreshadows the infamous “Order 66” which signaled the end of The Clone Wars and the start of the Galactic Empire under Emperor Palpatine’s New Order.
