“My name is Akuma! The supreme master of the fist!”—Akuma

Akuma is one of the main antagonists in Capcom’s popular fighting game franchise, Street Fighter. He was introduced in the fifth installment in the franchise as part of a hidden boss battle, Super Street Fighter II Turbo. Released in 1994, he joins other notable members of the Street Fighter lore that were not in the original game but gained popularity in the early 1990’s. In Japan his name was changed to Gouki, meaning “Great Demon”, “Great Devil” or “Great Ogre” or simply “devil” or “demon.” He gained popularity after his introduction and remained a part of many of the subsequent Street Fighter games as a playable character or boss. As his origin story is revealed thruoughout gameplay, we find that he is the younger brother of Gouken, making him the main character, Ryu’s adopted uncle. He has been voiced by a number of talented Japanese voice actors including Tomomichi Nishimura for all of the 2D game installments, and Taketora for Street Fighter IV, Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Street Fighter X Tekken.

Note we recommend using the 3/4″ natural rope provided for both the dark brown rope belt and the rope wrap arounds the hands if you decide to add this to the costume. To get the rope the desired tint of brown we recommend you use the wood stain or brown spray paint provided with the beaded necklace and martial arts training gloves, respectively.
