Pugsley Addams is the son of Morticia and Gomez Addams and brother to Wednesday and Pubert Addams. He is also the nephew of Fester Addams and lives with the family pet Thing, their butler Lurch and his grandmother Grandmama. Lovingly called “the little black monster” by his father, Pugsley is more similar to his uncle Fester in appearance and personality. He is often seen with his sister getting into some sort of trouble, which usually involves her trying to murder him. As a character, he had been most notably portrayed in a live action setting by Ken Weatherwax in the TV show and by Jimmy Workman in the two film adaptations. As described by his creator, cartoonist Charles Addams, the family is an ‘inversion’ of the typical american dream family unit. Describing them all in turn, Charles is quoted as saying “Gomez and Pugsley are enthusiastic. Morticia is even in disposition, muted, witty, sometimes deadly. Grandma Frump is foolishly good-natured. Wednesday is her mother’s daughter. A closely knit family, the real head being Morticia—although each of the others is a definite character—except for Grandma, who is easily led. Many of the troubles they have as a family are due to Grandma’s fumbling, weak character. The house is a wreck, of course, but this is a house-proud family just the same and every trap door is in good repair. Money is no problem.” Pugsley specifically was described (again by Charles Addams) as “An energetic monster of a boy…blond red hair, popped blue eyes and a dedicated troublemaker, in other words the kid next door…genius in his own way, he makes toy guillotines, full size racks, threatens to poison his sister, can turn himself into a Mr. Hyde with an ordinary chemical set…his voice is hoarse…is sometimes allowed an occasional cigar.”
Cresting your own Pugsley Addams Costume will be relatively simple. While he is an iconic member of the family, he is most often seen as part of a group cosplay, or as a couple with his sinister sister. His main costume includes wither a gray and black or black and white striped shirt, black shorts, black high socks and black shoes. Secondary parts of his costume include bottles of arsenic, one of his fathers cigars and his home-made guillotines that he uses for his sisters dolls.
