There are dozens of different characters that fit the title of Pokemon Trainer within the Pokemon universe. As a general definition, a Pokemon trainer is any person who captures, gives a name and trains different species of pokemon. As with the most iconic Pokemon Trainer of the all, Ash Ketchum, they typically begin their journey to ‘Catch ’em all’ at the tender age of 10, when they receive their first Pokemon. You know what they say, if someone didn’t start with Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle, they’re too young for you. Ultimately, no matter the starter Pokemon or region, the end goal is always the same. As a Pokemon Trainer, you want to become the ultimate Pokemon trainer by defeating the ‘elite four’ and becoming a master champion.
When creating your own generic Pokemon Trainer costume, you will need to decide on which generation of Pokemon, and geographic region you want to focus on. Although, for the purposes of this article, we will focus on adult sized costume items.
